Today is the first time we became aware that there is such a thing as Transfusion Medicine – really! It is the branch of medicine that deals with, well, blood transfusion. Seriously! It is a branch of science, and in the States, it requires twelve years of training before a doctor can get a certificate in Transfusion Medicine.
Anyways, finally, Dr. Sena agreed to give Melit blood transfusion as it might address the problem of hypothermia and low blood pressure (60/30). She ordered a liter of Packed RBC.
Well, what do you know, few hours after the transfusion, Melit’s BP went to 110/80, and her temperature went to 37. God knows best! We are going home tomorrow!
